Women into Construction is a membership organisation connecting women with contractors and training organisations. Member organisations pay an annual membership fee, which entitles them to a range of benefits.

Membership plays a key role in ensuring the future growth of Women into Construction (WIC) and its clients (women seeking work opportunities). It costs an average of £500.00 to support a woman on work experience, and a minimum of £200 to provide training to enable site access. Membership fees provide the budget to move women into paid employment and will enable WIC to support more women.

Here’s how it works:

Women Into Construction recruit women interested in all areas of construction. We give them advice and guidance related to their skill area, ensure they all have a CSCS card, and offer additional construction related training, such as the SMSTS and Working at Heights qualifications. Working closely with our contractors, we then broker them into supported work-placements and paid work.

Since our inception, we have, brokered 600 women into long-term, paid employment with more than twice that number receiving advice and training.

We have been told that this model makes us the only organisation in Europe providing the construction industry with highly motivated, qualified and job ready female recruits.

Membership of WIC gives you:

  • First choice of our qualified and experienced women seeking employment.
  • The opportunity to employ more women, which in turn makes your business more equal, and as such a company that more young people will want to join.
  • Access to and a discount on our tailor-made diversity
training courses, already used by a number of firms and local authorities to make it easier to recruit and retain women.
  • Use of our ‘Positive about Women in Construction’ logo, showing that by supporting WiC you are ‘Changing the Face of Construction’. This makes your commitment to equality obvious to others.
