Michaela – Trainee Site Operative

Before Micaela joined the WiC programme she had tried a variety of career paths but had never found her calling. WiC worked with Micaela to improve her confidence and employability skills whilst also gaining her H&S L1 and CSCS card.

Micaela then went on to complete a four-week work placement for a subcontractor undertaking enabling works on the HS2in the West Midlands.

Micaela was involved in a range of activities, including working with concrete, elevated work platforms and on-site surveys.

Assistant Site Manager, Paul Baugh said “Micaela brought a positive vibe to the site and was keen to get stuck in. She is confident, outgoing and has a good appreciation for health and safety, even identifying issues others had missed.”

After her work placement, Micaela attended an interview with CLM and was offered a six-month contract as a trainee site operative. Micaela has been keen to promote the work of WiC and spoke passionately to over 200 people at the WiC Celebration Event, about her experience into the industry with WiC.
