Rebecca – SHE co-ordinator

Rebecca embarked on The Home Builders Federation programme with WIC in November where she gained a WorkSkills certificate & a management CSCS card with The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London (CONEL).

Originally from NZ, Rebecca was a stay at home mum from 18. At 19 the family built their own home, with her husband working as an apprentice builder.

Rebecca went on to become a teacher, but as her husband’s career progressed, he was offered overseas projects so Rebecca would accept on-site roles in admin & HR to move with him. Having undertaken a few Health & Safety tasks, a desire formed – she completed her NEBOSH GC, SMSTS & applied for roles, but unfortunately had no luck.

“I happened to come upon a post on LinkedIn which caught my attention for a WiC event… Anna Walterskotter‘s knowledge of the industry, drive & passion for WiC was infectious. At the speed interview session, Steve Adey at Barratt Developments plc chose me for the work placement in his h&s team. I was very excited and a little bit nervous…

“Rebecca’s 2-week work placement consisted of hands-on, practical site experience, she noted: “I knew immediately this was for me.” Only 8 days in Rebecca was offered a role as SHE co-ordinator.

We wish Rebecca all the best in her new career in housebuilding.
