WiC Launch successful remote mentoring programme
WiC launched a remote mentoring programme in March 2020 in response to the government lockdown measures. Excitingly over 40 mentors have volunteered to help support women remotely during this time.
Mentee Mary Boateng is studying for a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment and is enrolled to undertake her CSCS training. Mary is currently enjoying a series of mentoring sessions with mentor Lucy Wilford information manager at Mid Group Ltd.
Mary said of her first session with Lucy: “The meeting with my mentor went very well… Thank you so much Anna for making this come true I am happy and hopeful looking forward.”
Lucy was pleased to be able to help: “I feel for those women trying to get into the industry at this uncertain time. Mary has everything the industry requires and her enthusiasm is a delight.
“WiC’s Anna Walterskotter says: “We are delighted to work with mentors in London Cambridge and Birmingham who are the key to keeping women motivated to forge a career in construction in a time where work placements are postponed. We encourage anyone from industry to volunteer!”
